Vail provides everything that's great about North American skiing, plus the ski to door convenience and large ski area we're used to in Europe. It also has a more pleasant village than North America's other big single ski area resorts (e.g. Whistler, Mammoth, Heavenly, Big Sky), gets better quality snow, and more of it too - huge dumps of champagne powder. Advanced skiers play in the legendary back bowls, a vast area of ski-anywhere powder. Intermediates have mile upon mile of perfectly groomed pistes and can also venture into a lot of the back bowls without a problem. Beaver Creek is only 10 miles away. It's a pedestrianised development of luxurious ski-in / ski-out hotels and condos but the skiing has plenty of challenges, and its deserted pistes are also great for those fun Super G turns, putting those new carver skis to the test!
Families and groups alike love Vail because it has everything that a skiing holiday should have from great restaurants to good shopping and excellent amenities. Vail has basically set the benchmark by which all other US resorts are judged and they have set an impressive standard to follow. Vail isn't just about the skiing, even though it is top notch. Vail is a place to see and be seen. It's Vail!
